2006 Barossa Valley Grenache

Cooper Burns 2006 Barossa Valley Grenache

Our 2006 Grenache comes from a small plot of 60 year old dry grown bush vines at Moppa , just north of Nuriootpa. This vineyard is very low yielding, producing highly perfumed and very very tasty fruit.

The fruit was hand picked, destemmed and gently crushed to an open fermenter. Hand pumpovers twice daily ensured maximum colour and flavour extraction during fermentation, with the ferment temperature controlled to retain the vibrant fruit character. The wine was gently basket pressed to seasoned French oak hogsheads and barriques.

Tasting notes

The wine is cherry red in colour with vibrant purple hues.

There nose is wonderfully lifted and perfumed, displaying intense aromas of Turkish Delight, strawberry, blackberry, violets, musk, sandalwood, licorice and a touch of mint and clove spice.

The medium bodied palate floods the mouth with those beautiful red berry flavours typical of the Grenache variety. A layered wine with a tight structure, soft but firm tannins, bright acidity and a long savory spicy finish. An approachable and fruit driven wine that will be best enjoyed over the next 5 - 10 years.

"Dark ruby-colored, it has an alluring bouquet of spice box and fragrant wild cherries. Velvety-textured, succulent, and pure, this nicely balanced effort can be enjoyed over the next 8-10 years"
