Smoky, toasty and slightly buttery aromas, complex and ripe: this is the full chardonnay monty. The wine is more refined and restrained in the mouth, quite delicate and subtle, with a good grip of tannin and acidity giving it a firm conclusion. Long persistence. A very appealing chardonnay.
This utterly delicious wine is a darker-coloured style of rosé, with a charming bouquet of strawberry, cherry, smoky, almost pinot-like nuances. The wine is soft and rich, full and rounded with great texture and palate harmony. It scores highly for flavour and drinkability.
Score: 93/100 SILVER
Pale green and bright. Clean, fresh lemon, limes and citrus blossom. Flavours are mirrored on the palate, with a nice crunch of phenolics from partial barrel fermentation, that adds texture and interest, before preserved lemon acidity completes a long, dry finish.
Score: 95/100 GOLD
All varieties fermented separately and unified at blending, grenache with 15% whole bunches included dominating the blend at 70%. Hard to question the judgement here. The red fruit of grenache with the black fruit and tannin of shiraz/mataro interwoven with the spice of whole bunches, adding fragrance, a savoury twiggy note and fine corset of tannin.
Striking labels, in various colours. I like the branding. Rich, deep, throbbing Barossa here. Black fruit, dark chocolate and liquorice, spiced biscuit oak in support. Intensity of flavour, Old Jamaica chocolate with some brighter fruit peeking through, ripe tannin, balanced acidity, good length. No shortage of flavour or substance.
Score: 95/100 GOLD
Dark red, hints of brick red on the rim. This release is laden with dark, brooding fruits and that classic Barossa leather and earth. There is immediate appeal on the sumptuous palate that is rich, rounded and almost slippery at the close.
